Visiting Consultants Professor Brian Butterworth and Professor Diana Laurillard visit NIE

Professor Brian Butterworth and Professor Diana Laurillard visited NIE from 28^th February to 1^st March 2023. During their visit, they visited the Science of Learning in Education Centre (SoLEC) and engaged with SoLEC researchers to exchange ideas and foster potential collaborations. They also met with colleagues from the MOE Curriculum Planning and Development Division (CPDD) to discuss possibilities on the use of math learning games to aid learners.

Prof Laurillard delivered a seminar on “Adaptive game design for learners with low numeracy using pedagogical science” as part of the monthly Science of Learning Seminar Series to approximately 60 participants. Prof Butterworth also delivered a guest lecture to Postgraduate students on “Learning from the evolutionary basis of human numerical abilities”.
