Verification of Educational Qualifications

The Online Verification of Educational Qualifications (OVEQ) system serves to assist employers, institutions of higher learning or recruitment agencies who wish to verify claims to educational or academic qualifications awarded by the National Institute of Education (NIE) or conferred by Nanyang Technological University (NTU).

The first degree and graduate programmes information available via this system is published in the NTU Convocation booklets. For verification of a degree awarded / conferred by NIE / NTU and year of award, you are required to provide the following in respect of the person you are enquiring:

1. Full name of graduate (as reflected in the official transcript) and 
2. Either graduate's date of birth, or student matriculation number (if known)

If a search is unsuccessful, it may be due to various reasons such as error in the graduate's name, date of birth or identification number, or the student has not been awarded / conferred a degree by NIE / NTU.

Please note that only records from 1989 onwards are searchable via this portal. For graduates' records before 1989, please complete the online request form.

We also require a consent letter, duly signed by the person you are enquiring, and consisting of the following information: 

1) Details of enquirer - name, company name, email address, telephone number, fax number
2) Details of graduate - name, date of birth or student matriculation number

The consent letter allows the organisation to conduct educational background checks on him / her. The consent letter should not be dated more than one month from the date of the request for verification. The requirement of the consent letter is in line with our Data Privacy Policy for students. 

The processing time for the manual degree verification request is about 3 - 7 working days from the day of receiving the request with all the required supporting document and information.
