What we do
NTU-PKU Joint Research Institute is a collaboration between the Nanyang Technological University in Singapore and the Peking University in China. The universities are funded through a donation of RMB 50 million (S$11 million) from the family of the late Mr Ng Teng Fong, with each of the universities receiving RMB 25 million (S$5.5 million).
The collaboration will serve the interests of the Smart Nation initiative of Singapore and the vision of New Silk Road and Internet Plus strategy in China.

It incorporates exchange programmes for faculty, research staff and undergrad & graduate students as well as events such as workshops, summer/winter schools and others to facilitate collaboration between the research programmes at NTU and PKU.

Research into creating an elderly friend society through novel designs, engineering and infrastructures that accommodate the elderly’s needs, developing new models of home and community care, and developing smart artificial intelligence and educational data mining technologies that enable personalised massive open online course (MOOC) and blended learning access for lifelong learners.
Multimodal Big Data Analytics Technologies For Smart Cities
Research into the collection and comprehension of high velocity data streams from millions of different sensors while maintaining data privacy and applying the insights to domains such as crime forensics, real-time surveillance, traffic monitoring and management, urban sustainability.
