NTU Wraps Up at SkillsFuture Festival 2023 for Workplace Digitalisation
The SkillsFuture Festival has just wrapped up yet another successful event, with this year’s festival organised by SUSS Centre for Continuing and Professional Education (CCPE) and SkillsFuture Singapore (SSG). This year, Nanyang Technological University (NTU) participated in the annual SkillsFuture Festival, an event supported by different Institutes of Higher Learning (IHLs) every year. The one-day hybrid event was held on 3 August 2023 at the Lifelong Learning Institute, hosting 14 booths and 39 breakout activities. Graced by guest-of-honor Ms Gan Siow Huang, Minister of State for Education and Manpower, the festival showcased Continuing Education and Training (CET) programmes from various IHLs with the central theme of the festival event revolving around workplace digitalisation.
The theme “Digital at Work” explored three key initiatives to empower Singapore’s workforce to thrive in this digital economy, including an inspiring talk on ‘Leading in the Era of Generative AI’ by the event’s keynote speaker, Mr Richard Koh, Chief Technology Officer and Customer Success Lead of Microsoft Singapore. This year, NTU had the honour of taking part in the event as one of the IHL exhibitors, contributing with valuable insights in AI Ethics and Governance, Career Pathfinding in the Digital Age, Entrepreneurial Thinking and Action, and more.
In addition to the launch of three exciting programmes, attendees also had the chance to engage in a thought-provoking panel conversation centred around Embracing Global Competencies and Digitalisation in a Changing World. Furthermore, everyone nabbed the opportunity to stay updated on the most recent digital trends through more than 40 workshops and interactive sessions, making the SkillsFuture Festival event a huge success.
NTU has been actively supporting the SSG initiative to promote the upskilling of the local workforce. Aside from this year’s participation in the SkillsFuture Festival, NTU has once successfully hosted the first virtual SkillsFuture Festival 2020 with 38 online workshops spanned across eight themes, with the overall theme of “Reskilling and Upskilling for a Future-Ready Workforce” to help individuals upskill and discover job prospects in diverse industries. In 2021, NTU also collaborated with Singapore Computer Society to launch the Certificate in AI Ethics and Governance, which aims to recognise and equip professionals with knowledge in applying ethical AI practices in organizations.
As a big advocate for helping individuals access new job opportunities, NTU has been providing upskilling courses such as the SkillsFuture Career Transition Programme (SCTP) offered through Centre for Professional and Continuing Education (PaCE@NTU), providing the local workforce with opportunities to gain in-demand skills and career consultation services for a seamless transition to integrate into the digital economy. To stay ahead in this age of digital transformation, NTU also offers digital courses such as AI and Analytics in Business Valuation and Finance, a beginner-friendly course which provides professionals with fundamental understanding of artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning. This insightful course enables professionals to build confidence in embracing new technologies at work to improve efficiencies and support decision-making and business planning.
