Introduction

This course helps learners understand the basics of entrepreneurship and prepares them to develop further skills and knowledge in related areas. Entrepreneurship is more than just writing a business plan. The course uses practical teaching methods to encourage entrepreneurial thinking by integrating course readings, real-life examples, and learners' experiences. Learners will study theories that help create and develop new businesses, and they will apply these theories through active participation in interactive classes, group discussions, class projects, and case studies.

 At the end of the course, learners will be able to:

  • Explain the theories of Entrepreneurship and how Entrepreneurs think.
  • Utilise ideas, concepts, tools, and skills to develop and idea to a business model and to a business plan. 
  • Explain current trends and identify strategies to create success for their new ventures.

  3. Creativity, Innovation and Opportunity Recognition
  4. Six Practical Theories (including Improvisation, Bricolage, Effectuation, End-User-Modification, Exaptation & The Lean StartUp)
  5. The Business Model Canvas & The Lean Canvas
  6. Entrepreneurial Growth through Licensing, Franchising & Microfranchising
  7. Screening Venture Opportunities
  8. The Business Plan
  9. The Business Plan Part 2: Marketing & Operations
  10. The Business Plan Part 3: Finance & Packaging
  11. The Business Plan Part 4: Advocacy & Critique
  12. Team Presentation and course wrap up

To meet the requirement of SkillsFuture Singapore, assessment(s) will be conducted during every course. The assessment(s) include:

Mr Jason is an entrepreneur, angel investor, and practitioner faculty in 48 universities in UK, USA, France, Australia, and Singapore with more than 2 decades of experiences. His primary venture, The Guild of Storytellers Pte Ltd has represented the University of Cambridge (England) for Entrepreneurship to the British Royal Family in The Royal Visit in 2018. Jason is an alumnus of University of Cambridge (MSt), Imperial College London (MBA) and a Life member of the Oxbridge Society.
