Introduction
This course aims to introduce how many of the most common machine elements such as belts, chains, gears and bearings operate; and how the information learned in previous mechanics of materials and theory of mechanism courses can be applied to solve the design problems encountered when using these elements.
*This course is credit-bearing and stackable to Specialist Certificate in Mechanical Engineering Essentials for Aerospace Engineers.
- Analyze and perform appropriate calculations required for the selection of standard machine components
- Design and select machine elements to satisfy the function of the machine for desired applications
- Integrate and interface machine elements in a mechanical device or system
This module is part of 4 courses leading to the "Specialist Certificate in Mechanical Engineering Essentials for Aerospace Engineers".
This Specialist Certificate will enable NTU’s Aerospace Engineering graduates to apply for registration as Professional Engineers, if other requirements (4 years of relevant practical experience in engineering, FEE & PPEE examinations, interview) are also fulfilled. Further details on Professional Engineer registration from PEB can be found at https://www.peb.gov.sg/Downloads/RegistrationasPE.pdf.
