Master of Science in Nanotechnology and Nanoscience

Are you ready to explore the frontiers of science and technology? Our Master of Science in Nanotechnology and Nanoscience program is designed for students and working professionals with backgrounds in engineering or physical sciences who wish to specialize in this cutting-edge field. Nanotechnology and nanoscience leverage the research, design, development, fabrication, and application of novel materials and devices at the sub-micron scale. This emerging discipline is revolutionizing material science, advancing medicine, transforming energy solutions, improving environmental sustainability, and enhancing innovations in electronics. The global nanotechnology market is rapidly growing, projected to expand from $91.18 billion in 2024 to $332.73 billion by 2032.

Through the rigor of our interdisciplinary programme, graduates will be equipped with key skill sets to embark on careers in various nanotechnology domains, including semiconductors, consumer electronics, energy, materials, healthcare, and advanced manufacturing. For instance, the semiconductor industry, a key pillar of Singapore’s economy, is expected to see demand double within the next decade, making it crucial for the workforce to be upskilled to support this growth.

Why Choose Our Programme?

  • Innovative Interdisciplinary Curriculum: NTU is among a select few Asian universities offering an MSc programme in nanotechnology and nanoscience. Our cutting-edge curriculum taps into the interdisciplinary expertise across NTU, exposing you to the best from the School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE), School of Physical and Mathematical Sciences (SPMS), School of Chemistry, Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology (CCEB), and School of Materials Science and Engineering. The programme emphasizes practical applications, delving into emerging fields such as nanoelectronics and nanophotonics. You'll gain hands-on experience through experimental and characterization sessions and supervised dissertation projects, learning from industry experts and applying your knowledge in real-world scenarios.
  • Career Advancement: The interdisciplinary nature of nanotechnology and nanoscience opens up a wide array of job opportunities, including roles as industrial R&D specialists, material scientists, nano-electronic engineers, nano-fabrication engineers, semiconductor fabrication engineers, environmental engineers, energy systems engineers, nano-photonic scientists, biomedical engineers, clinical research associates, and biotechnologists.
