CSC & CSC(Executive) Phase 2

After completing CSC and CSC(E) Phase 1, qualified SAF officers can apply for credit transfer for the CE Master's courses taken during Phase 1 to one of the Master's Programmes offered by NTU or to one of the Undergraduate Programmes offered by SUSS. Officers are encouraged to apply soon after CSC so that they can better spread out the Phase 2 courses and gain the advantage of currency from their Phase 1 studies.

ELIGIBILITY FOR SAF-NTU CE PROGRAMMES

Eligible SAF officers have to register for one of the NTU Master's programmes offered any time within 5 years from the successful completion of CSC.

To complete the SAF-NTU CE Master's Programme, SAF officers will need to successfully complete the required number of courses and one Independent Study Module (where applicable) in NTU over a period not exceeding 7 years after the completion of CSC.

FULL-TIME AND/OR PART-TIME MASTER'S PROGRAMMES

The SAF provides the opportunity for qualifying CSC graduates to continue their Master’s study full-time or part-time immediately after CSC. Admission to the programmes would be in November or January in the following year (depending on programme).

CSC(E) graduates could similarly continue their Master’s study full-time or part-time immediately after CSC(E) for admission to NIE and NCPA programmes in January in the following year.

Officers may also opt to commence their Master’s study full-time or part-time a few years after CSC/CSC(E), in which case, the programme admission would be in August or January of the Academic Year (depending on programme).

With maximum course credit transfer from Phase I to Phase II, many of the NTU programmes can be completed within the full-pay study leave period of up to 36 weeks (for non-digital programmes) or 54 weeks (for digital programmes).  Officers who are not able complete their Master’s programme within the full-pay study leave period would be able to continue to complete their remaining courses on a part-time basis thereafter.  A one-time conversion, either from full-time to part-time or vice versa, is allowed.

TRANSFER OF COURSES

The transfer of courses from Phase 1 to Phase 2 requires a minimum Grade Point of 2.5 for each of the CE Master's courses completed in Phase 1 to be achieved (subject to the minimum number of courses to be completed).  For the transfer of courses for the RSIS's M.Sc. programmes, a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 2.5 or more for the combination of CE Master's courses completed in Phase 1 is required.

Reference: Course credit transfer table.

PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENT

NTU will give an academic warning to officers who obtain a Term Grade Point Average (TGPA) of less than 2.5. NTU will terminate an officer's candidature if the officer obtains a GPA of less than 2.5 for two consecutive trimesters/semesters.

INDEPENDENT STUDY MODULE

SAF officers in the Master's programme are required to do an Independent Study Module (where applicable to the programme). This allows them to apply the concepts taught by NTU to their work experience in the SAF.

WITHDRAWAL

The SAF will consider withdrawal from the programme on a case by case basis. SAF officers who withdraw from the programme without the SAF's approval will be liable for liquidated damages.

SAF officers who resign from service whilst in the midst of the CE Programmes will cease to receive SAF sponsorship and will be liable for liquidated damages.
