Bilingual Metalinguistic Scaffolding as a Pedagogical and Psychological Support for Early MTL Development
This project seeks to clarify cross-language transfer effects between English and Chinese, two typologically dissimilar languages, and determine the effectiveness of leveraging bilingual pedagogical practices to enhance Chinese learning among English-Chinese bilinguals. Anticipated outcomes include improved MTL proficiency, literacy skills, and increased engagement in MTL learning. Findings will inform evidence-based learning support programs, using English strategically to facilitate MTL learning and empower young bilinguals for lifelong success.
