Singapore faces significant external challenges today, such as the shifting power dynamics between the United States and China. NTU Singapore’s Professor Joseph Liow, Dean of the College of Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences (CoHASS), highlights the importance of understanding these uncertainties for policymakers and citizens alike.
At the launch of his book, "Navigating Uncertainty: Our Region in an Age of Flux," Prof Liow shared insights from his lectures as the 13th S R Nathan Fellow, focusing on the drivers of uncertainty in Singapore's external environment and how the nation can thrive amidst these challenges.
The book launch, organized by the Institute of Policy Studies at the National University of Singapore, was attended by Minister for Education Chan Chun Sing, who underscored the book's potential to inspire policymakers, researchers, corporations, and citizens to envision a resilient future for Singapore. He highlighted a key message from Prof Liow’s book: instead of choosing sides, Singapore should focus on making others choose it.
The event concluded with attendees receiving signed copies of the book, which includes highlights from Prof Liow’s audience interactions during his lectures, offering a comprehensive look at how Singapore can navigate and thrive in an age of global flux.
