Commentary: 'Red lines' at Shangri-La Dialogue a reminder of need for new solutions to old problems

In a commentary, assistant professor at RSIS Sarah Teo and assistant professor at SSS Dylan MH Loh say that the Shangri-La Dialogue held in Singapore opens an important space for communication in the era of complex geopolitics. The Dialogue proved the importance of understanding each country’s “red lines” – boundaries that must not be crossed. Nevertheless, successful solutions to the unfolding challenges are likely to be few and far between in the near term.
