In squeaky-clean Singapore, two political dramas raise questions

Singapore's ruling People's Action Party (PAP) has long prided itself on its high ethical standards but two political entanglements in a week - the transport minister arrested in connection with a graft investigation, and two lawmakers stepping down because of an inappropriate relationship - have some wondering if the party's reputation of "whiter than white" stands. NTU political scientist Walid Jumblatt Abdullah said Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong has enough political goodwill to ride these events out. But he said the incidents could be more contentious for Deputy Prime Minister Lawrence Wong and his fourth generation of leaders now taking over.
