Talking About Politics : Remembering Chaiwat Satha-Anand

In this episode of Talking Thai Politics, Ajarn Mark Tamthai of Payap University reflects on the late Ajarn Chaiwat Satha-Anand’s passion for peace in Thailand’s deep south. Chaiwat, a renowned political science professor at Thammasat University, dedicated his life to promoting nonviolence, particularly in the Malay-Muslim-majority areas of Pattani, Yala, and Narathiwat. His work, including books like The Life of this World and Imagined Land, explored Islam and non-violence. The episode highlights his significant contributions, including leading the 2006 National Reconciliation Commission Report.

Mark Tamthai is a former head of the Department of Philosophy at Chulalongkorn University and former director of the Institute of Religion, Culture and Peace at Payap University.
