China accuses US of repaying kindness with ingratitude by launching tariff war over fentanyl
After the US imposed tariffs on Chinese goods on the grounds of China’s alleged role in US’ illicit fentanyl trade, the Chinese government responded that it had never exported fentanyl drugs to North America and criticised the US for repaying kindness with ingratitude on the fentanyl issue. NTU PPGA’s Asst Prof Dylan Loh said that Beijing aims to highlight the concrete action it has taken in fentanyl control. He added that by emphasising its efforts in fentanyl control, China hopes to show its willingness to continue to cooperate with the US, and at the same time emphasise that it cannot accept if US keeps passing the buck.
