China retaliates by raising tariffs to 125%, says US will be a joke if it raises tariffs further

China has raised tariffs on US goods from 84% to 125%. In his first public speech since the tariff war, Chinese President Xi Jinping said that US would become a joke if it imposed further tariffs, and that China would ignore it. NTU PPGA's Asst Prof Dylan Loh said China's statement shows that it no longer wants to let US lead it by the nose, and is throwing the problem back to Trump, while showing that China is the "adult in the room" and the party that is mature and responsible.
