SSS Club Recognized with CoLab4Good Award for Service to Society
On October 1, 2024, during the NTU Student Leaders Night, the Students' Social Sciences (SSS) Club was proud to receive the CoLab4Good Award for Service to Society, funded by Kwek Leng Joo. This esteemed recognition underscores the club’s exceptional initiative and commitment to driving social impact within our community.
This accolade follows the successful NTU Social Science Challenge 2024, held on May 25th, where we hosted 113 participants from 23 teams, representing six junior colleges, polytechnics, and IB schools. Over the course of two months, students engaged in critical discussions about the importance of policy analysis in Singapore, concentrating on the challenges faced by vulnerable social groups such as low-income households, foreign workers, single-parent families, and at-risk youths.
Understanding the multifaceted nature of social issues, the competition encouraged participants to take an interdisciplinary approach in developing effective solutions. By integrating insights from economics, psychology, public policy, global affairs, and sociology, students gained valuable skills in addressing community needs and formulating impactful policies.
At SSS@NTU, student life is enriched by these transformative experiences, fostering a strong sense of community and commitment to social responsibility. Through active participation in initiatives like these, our students not only contribute to meaningful change but also grow personally and professionally, embodying the values of empathy, collaboration, and leadership.
