DeepSeek greatly improves productivity, Tan Kong Yam: Let China "speed up"

At the "Decoding China’s Two Sessions" forum, NTU Emeritus Professor of Economics Tan Kong Yam predicted that China's AI model, DeepSeek, will significantly boost productivity and strengthen China's role in geopolitics and AI competition. With government support, DeepSeek will be widely applied across various economic sectors, accelerating productivity growth within three to five years, like the U.S. internet revolution. He further forecasted that in the next 10 to 15 years, Asia will develop a hierarchical division of labour, with coastal China and Singapore focusing on high-tech and finance, while China's inland regions and Southeast Asia would serve as manufacturing hubs.
