Sharp increase in number of voters; many changes in constituencies in the east and west

The Electoral Boundaries Review Committee has released its report, increasing the total number of parliamentary seats from 93 to 97 and the number of electoral divisions from 31 to 33. NTU’s Assoc Prof Walid Jumblatt Abdullah said that almost all the constituencies that are expected to see strong competition underwent changes, with East Coast, West Coast, Marine Parade, and Tampines identified as key battlegrounds. He noted the continuing trend of increasing single-member constituencies (SMCs).
