News analysis: Can the Israel-Hezbollah ceasefire be a catalyst for regional peace?

The ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah remains intact but has been disrupted by several incidents. Under the agreement reached, the ceasefire is set to last 60 days. On its side, Israel will withdraw all its troops from Lebanon. However, no similar agreement has been reached for Gaza - a concern highlighted by Assoc Prof Walid Jumblatt Abdullah from NTU’s School of Social Sciences. Although the ceasefire is a positive development, Prof Walid expressed concern that it might be used to project an image of peace while increasing oppression in Palestine, Gaza, and the West Bank.
