Old photo, birthday wish, ravioli lunch: Personal diplomacy on display during Xi-Biden meeting

On Wednesday, Chinese President Xi Jinping and US President Joe Biden met at the special summit on the sidelines of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Economic Leaders’ Meeting. The meeting comes amid a recent thaw in bilateral relations. The meeting has given both sides more clarity on each other’s red lines, which portends a less antagonistic and hostile relationship, said Asst Prof Dylan Loh from the Public Policy and Global Affairs Division at SSS@NTU.
