Game Changer: Empowering Youth to Build Positive Gaming Communities
Meet Hannah Batrisyia, an NTU Sociology student who has turned personal challenges into a mission for meaningful change. As a passionate gamer, Hannah faced online hate simply for being a "gamer girl." Instead of letting negativity hold her back, she channelled her experience into action, co-founding Project Get Flamed! – an inspiring initiative that aims to tackle online toxicity and foster positive gaming environments for youth.
Through Project Get Flamed!, Hannah empowers young people to navigate the digital world with respect, inclusivity, and kindness. By blending her sociology expertise with her passion for gaming, she addresses complex social issues in virtual spaces, proving that the gaming community can be a force for good.
Hannah's initiative is more than a project - it’s a movement. Through workshops, mentorship, and community-building activities, Project Get Flamed! educates youth on the importance of positive interactions online and equips them with tools to stand against cyberbullying. The initiative also creates safe spaces for open discussions, encouraging young gamers to connect meaningfully while having fun.
Her efforts have gained recognition for shining a spotlight on the importance of combating online negativity and building healthy virtual communities. As an SSS@NTU student, Hannah is a stellar example of how academic learning can inspire real-world solutions to social challenges.
