Three PAP candidates who lost in opposition constituencies are expected to switch positions
At least three members of the People’s Action Party (PAP) teams who previously contested opposition-held constituencies are expected to shift to different wards in the upcoming general election. They are Victor Lye, who contested in Aljunied, Alex Yeo, also from Aljunied, and Lee Hong Chuang, who contested twice in Hougang. Assoc Prof Walid Jumblatt Abdullah from NTU SSS said that reassigning defeated PAP candidates to new constituencies serves as a reward for their efforts in opposition-held areas and encourages candidates to persevere, as even after a defeat, there remains a chance to contest elsewhere. He noted that this practice is not a bad thing because it motivates PAP candidates to work hard in opposition constituencies, knowing there could be future opportunities.
