Turning 'likes' into votes – how social media and podcasts will shape the GE2025 campaign

In a bid to connect with citizens, politicians from the ruling People's Action Party and potential opposition candidates are making their rounds on podcasts and raising their social media game. Some podcasts heavily feature policy analysis, while others lean into more personal storytelling, humour or rigorous debate. Assoc Prof Walid Jumblatt Abdullah, who teaches political science at NTU, said that his podcast Teh Tarik with Walid, which is livestreamed on Instagram, is more focused on serious political analysis than many others.
