Nanyang-DSO Graduate Programme (NDGP) 2025/2026

​Objective

​​​​​​The objective of NDGP is to attract and nurture Singaporean talents in defence and security research & development (R&D) with the explicit goal of developing future technical thought leaders in our defence ecosystem.


​​lntroduction

NDGP is a premier graduate programme designed to encourage outstanding Singaporean graduates to pursue a research career by studying for a Ph.D. in NTU. The research topics will be specifically selected for its highest impact in the fields relevant to TL@NTU and DSO. Beyond providing technical training (both locally as well as overseas), the NDGP will also incorporate leadership and management exposure into its comprehensive programme. Selected candidates will be employed full-time as a Research Assistant in TL@NTU while pursuing a Ph.D. degree in one of the Schools in NTU on a part-time basis. The key aspects of the programme are as follows:

  • ​4 years of employment as a research staff in TL@NTU
  • 4 years of full tuition fee
  • 1-year overseas research attachment with additional financial support
  • Internship at DSO National Lab or other local Defence Technology Community (DTC) partners
  • Local and overseas conference support
  • Leadership development programme
  • Exposure to defence ecosystem
 

Eligibility Criteria


​​Applicants must:

  • ​Be a Singapore citizen
  • Have obtained at least 2nd Upper Class Honours Degree or equivalent, at Bachelor’s level. 
    [If applicant has not yet completed the undergraduate degree programme, applicant shall furnish documentation from the University that applicant is on track to obtain at least 2nd Upper Class Honours Degree, or equivalent.] 
  • Have strong interest in research for defence science and application

​There is no bond attached to this programme.

​Upon successful completion of the studies, the student/staff may be offered continual employment in TL@NTU or its defence partners.

​​1Central Provident Fund (CPF) contributions shall be provided at a rate pegged to the prevailing employer's contribution rate set by CPF, on top of the monthly stipend received. In addition the monthly stipend, Merit Increment (MI) shall be provided.

SUTD-DSO Graduate Fellowship Programme (SDGF)

The SDGF is a premier graduate fellowship by Temasek Labs@SUTD (TL@SUTD) and DSO National Laboratories which aims to attract Singaporean graduates to nurture them in defence and security research & development (R&D) with a goal to develop future technical thought leaders in our defence ecosystem.
