A survey by four students from NTU’s Wee Kim Wee School of Communication and Information found nearly 70 per cent of respondents were not willing to buy “ugly food” as they thought such food were not fresh and not tasty, may affect health, have low nutritious value. The group collected and distributed “ugly food” at neighbourhood estates to encourage residents to buy and use such food. They also plan to work with Sheng Siong supermarket to correct the misunderstanding Singaporeans have towards “ugly food” and raise awareness on food wastage.
