Emeritus Prof Christina Soh, was previously the Goh Tjoei Kok Professor in Business. As Dean of NBS, she was pivotal in the strategic repositioning of the School and in developing its leadership, collaborative culture, strengthening faculty and administrative talent and alumni engagement. She led enhancements to the School’s suite of undergraduate, graduate and continuing education programmes, including cross-college offerings such as the double degree programme in Accountancy & Data Science and Artificial Intelligence, Bachelor of Applied Computing in Finance, and the Executive Master of Science in Sustainability Management. She increased NBS’s research impact through stronger connections with industry.

Prof Soh previously served in the President’s Council as Vice President (Strategy & Leadership Development), and as Associate Provost (Faculty Affairs), where she oversaw the university-wide leadership programmes for faculty. She was also elected to the inaugural Senate Steering Committee and the Advisory Board of NTU’s Academic Council.

At NBS, she had served as Head of the IT and Operations Management division, Director of the Information Management Research Centre, and Associate Dean. She played a key role in the design of NTU’s signature cross-disciplinary programmes, including the double degree in Business and Computing and the Renaissance Engineering Programme, both among the most sought-after undergraduate courses. 

Her research in digital transformation in organisations, and earlier work in enterprise systems implementation have won international awards. She has served as Senior Editor at major journals. She is a Fellow of the Association for Information Systems for her contributions to the field.

Hong Hai

Hong Hai

Professor Hong Hai, former dean of Nanyang Business School, was conferred Emeritus Professor with effect from 1st July 2023 for academic work, public service, and management of the college of business.

Prof Hong joined Nanyang Business School in 2003 as Dean of Graduate Programs and was appointed Dean in 2004. Trained earlier in engineering, management (MPA Harvard) and economics (PhD Carnegie-Mellon), he taught at the Kellogg School at Northwestern University and NUS Business School before working in industry for twenty years, which included service as President and Chief Executive of Haw Par Corporation Ltd (1990-2003).

A life-long learner, he developed a midlife interest in East Asian culture and medicine, completing degrees in philosophy (PhD London School of Economics) as well as Chinese literature and medicine. Besides publishing in academic journals, he is the author of several books, including The Rule of Culture: Corporate and State Governance in China and East Asia (Routledge 2020), Principles of Chinese Medicine: A Modern Interpretation (Imperial College Press 2016) and Chinese Medicine for Health (World Scientific Publishing 2022).  He practises medicine part-time at the Renhai Centre, which he founded.

Prof Hong has served in the Singapore Parliament and was chairman of the Government Parliamentary Committees on Transport and on Health. He has been on the boards of many public companies and statutory boards, including the PUB, URA, Singtel, SATS, and Golden Agricultural Resources.

 

Ho Kim Wai

Prof Ho Kim Wai has been conferred the honorary position of Emeritus Associate Professor with effect from 1 October 2023 in recognition of his distinguished scholarship and exemplary service to the University. 

Prof Ho is currently the Academic Director of the Nanyang EMBA programme, a position he holds following his retirement as a full-time faculty in 2021 from NTU. Prof Ho’s distinguished career spans both academia and industry, bridging theory and practice. With 30+ years at NTU, he held roles including Associate Dean (Research) and directors of key programmes. An excellent educator, Prof Ho earned numerous teaching accolades. Before NTU, he gained extensive international audit and corporate leadership experience. After entering academia, Prof Ho continues to contribute to industry through consultancy for global and government entities, and board memberships in listed companies and statutory boards.

Prof Ho’s interests are in corporate finance, corporate governance and mergers and acquisitions. He continues to conduct courses in these areas in the Nanyang EMBA and other graduate and executive education programmes at the Nanyang Business School. 

Prof Ho was conferred the Public Service Medal Award (PBM) in 2005 and awarded the Long Service Medal (National Day Honours) in 2015.

Wee Chow Hou

Wee Chow Hou

Prof Wee Chow Hou has been conferred the title of Emeritus Professor with effect from 1 February 2023 for his significant contributions to the University.  Professor Wee joined NTU in 2002.  He was Head of the Division of Strategy, Management & Organization (2005 to 2009) and Head of Marketing and International Business (2009 to 2019).  Before joining NTU, he was Dean of NUS Business School (1990 to 1999), and headed several academic departments.

A former Merit, Colombo Plan and Commonwealth scholar, he obtained his PhD and MBA from Western University (Canada). He won the Academy of Marketing Science (USA) 1984 PhD Paper Award and the 1985 Doctoral Dissertation Award.  He has over 360 publications of various standings, authored/co-authored 16 books, and was on the editorial boards of various international journals. 

A global domain expert on applying Sun Zi Bingfa to business, he has consulted/conducted executive training for over 350 global organizations in over 30 countries, including Fortune 500 companies.   He has been a Board Director of numerous publicly-listed companies in Singapore and sat on many local, regional and international advisory boards.  

For his contributions to the nation, he has been conferred four National Day Awards by the President of Singapore (including the Public Service Star (Bar) in 2020), and the Friend of Labour Award in 2005 by the NTUC of Singapore.
