About the Seminar
Dazu rock carvings and Huashan petroglyphs are two World Natural Heritage Sites in China. The government is paying more and more attention to the protection of cultural heritage while the Law on the Protection of Cultural Relics has recently been amended.
This presentation talks about the experiences of Dr Wengang Zhang for protection of rock cultural relics as well as the geotechnical research conducted for the projects. In addition, the research on Helan Mountain petroglyphs would also be covered.
About the Speaker
Dr. Zhang Wengang obtained his PhD degree in NTU in 2014 and is currently a Professor in the School of Civil Engineering at Chongqing University, China. His research interests focus on deep braced excavation, slope stability, rock cultural relics reservation as well as big data and machine learning in geotechnics and geoengineering. He serves Geoscience Frontiers & Machine Learning and Data Science in Geotechnics as associate editors, and is editorial board members for journals of Computers and Geotechnics, Journal of Rock Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering, Georisk and Bulletin of Engineering Geology and the Environment.
He has published over 100 research papers in top journals of geotechnical engieering and 24 of them are highly cited papers (ESI). He was the 2021, 2022, 2023 Elsevier China Highly Cited Researcher and the 2023 and 2024 Clarivate Analytics Global Highly Cited Researcher.
