A leader in India’s electric vehicle market

In recognition of her outstanding achievements at Mahindra Last Mile Mobility Ltd, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore (NTU Singapore) is proud to present Ms Suman Mishra with the Nanyang Alumni Achievement Award.

Ms Mishra is the CEO of Mahindra Last Mile Mobility Limited (MLMM) and is responsible for the company’s mix of petrol, compressed natural gas, diesel, and electric three- and four-wheel passenger and cargo vehicles. Prior to leading the company, she was its Head of Business Transformation, Customer Insights and Analytics (Auto Division).

When Ms Mishra took on the role of CEO at MLMM, the company was selling fewer than 1,000 electric vehicles (EVs) a month. Under her leadership, MLMM’s sales figures increased significantly to over 35,000 EVs in 2023, achieving 14.6% of the EV market share in India. One of the first things she did as a CEO was to instil a clear vision and direction. She believes that when the company has clarity of purpose, it will be able to focus on its targets.

Ms Mishra started her career as a consultant with the management consulting firm Accenture, followed by McKinsey & Company. In 2013, she joined pharmaceutical company Cipla as its Head of Corporate Project Management, where she spearheaded global product launches.

Blazing a trail in tech

In recognition of his outstanding achievements in the tech sector, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore (NTU Singapore) is proud to present Mr Ajit Mohan with the Nanyang Alumni Achievement Award.

Mr Mohan is a technology executive who is currently working as the President of Asia-Pacific region at Snap Inc., a New York Stock Exchange listed technology company known for its Snapchat app.

Prior to joining Snap Inc. in November 2022, he was Vice President and Managing Director of Meta India for four years. At Meta, Mr Mohan was instrumental in driving Facebook’s US$5.7 billion investment in Jio Platforms, the growth of Instagram, and the rollout of WhatsApp’s first end-to-end shopping experience with JioMart in India. Jio Platforms is one of India’s largest telecommunication companies.

Before joining Meta, he was CEO of Hotstar, the digital entertainment platform owned by Star India. Among his numerous achievements, he helped transform how live sports programmes, particularly cricket, is consumed in India and made Hotstar the top premium video streaming platform in India.

For his accomplishments as an innovator and for his contributions to society, Nanyang Technological University is proud to present Dr. Pan Zhengxiang with the Nanyang Outstanding Young Alumni Award.

Dr. Pan is an innovator and youth leader with a warm heart in making a difference to our society. His stint in community leadership through innovation is recognized with numerous honours, notably with his conferment of the Public Service Medal (PBM) presented by President Mdm Halimah Yacob, the Honouree Award in JCI’s Top Ten Outstanding Young Persons of the World (Scientific/Technological Development), the Singapore’s IT Youth Leader Award, six consecutive years of Citizens’ Consultative Committee (CCC) Most Outstanding Grassroots Leader Award and recently, the 15 Years Community Long Service Award awarded by Minister Chan Chun Sing. He is serving as Chief Digital Officer of the Woodlands Digital Office, and is also a member of the Woodlands CCC and CCMC.

The relentless innovator developed his first innovation, the PeaClean fan filter, when he was only 13. The experience propelled him to pilot further creative innovations to make a difference. During his National Service, Dr. Pan was recognised as an “A-Star soldier” for strengthening teams and leading over 30 innovations to enhance national security. This includes his multi-award-winning Innovative Pass Verification System (iPVS), worth $800,000, which won the prestigious MINDEF Outstanding Work Improvement Team Award.

In his undergraduate years, he was the only Singaporean that was appointed Senior Vice President in Harvard Model United Nations at prestigious Specialized Agency. He was invited and conferred the Certificate for Prof Clayton Christensen’s Disruptive Strategy program at Harvard Business School Online. In 2010, he was invited to Microsoft Research Asia’s prestigious Star of Tomorrow programme, where he achieved the Microsoft Excellence Award and met with Mr Bill Gates. Dr. Pan continued to fly the flag of NTU high on the global stage during his PhD. He was Invited to showcase innovation to President Dr Tony Tan, Nobel Laureates, Turing Award Winners when he was among Top 8 at the Global Young Scientists Summit. Dr. Pan also clinched multiple prestigious academic awards. He also represented the Joint NTU-UBC Research Centre of Excellence in Active Living for the Elderly (LILY) at the World Congress on Active Aging.

Dr. Pan is an innovator with impactful solutions to address the needs of the community-at-large, especially the needy who are affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. Dr. Pan passionately strives to make a difference for both the elderly and young. In 2016, he served as a Pioneer Generation Ambassador. More recently, he received praise from President Halimah Yacob for leading primary school students to the SPD Charity Show to befriend their physically challenged peers.

His youth leadership and impactful innovations have touched the lives of many and raised the flag of our NTU over the years.

For his outstanding service and contributions to the School of Computer Science and Engineering (SCSE), Nanyang Technological University is proud to present Mr Meng Yang Andy with the Nanyang Alumni Service Award.

Since 2012, Mr Meng has served the SCSE Alumni Association committee faithfully in various roles such as Executive Member, Vice President and Honorary Treasurer. He has helped organise alumni events like the River Safari Alumni Family Day, Alumni Cruise, Social Painting, and SCSE Alumni Talks.

In addition, the Vice President of Digital and Tech at NTUC Enterprise also engages NTU’s alumni at industry networking events. He has helped current SCSE students through career mentoring talks by offering internship and full-time job opportunities with his previous companies, Shopee, IBM and others, in the industry.

Mr Meng was awarded the “IBM Outstanding Technical Achievement Award”, IBM’s highest technical award, during his stint as a software engineer at the information technology giant.
