SCSE 35th Anniversary Dinner Event – 10 Nov 2023
In commemoration of SCSE’s 35 years of establishment, the school had organised a 35th Anniversary Dinner at Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel on 10 November 2023. The event was honoured by the presence of NTU President, Professor Ho Teck Hua, who served as the Guest of Honour, along with Senior Vice President (SVP) (Administration), Ms Tan Aik Na, SVP (Health and Life Sciences) and Dean, LKC School of Medicine, Prof Joseph Sung, VP (Research), Prof Luke Ong, and VP (Innovation & Entrepreneurship) and Dean, College of Engineering, Prof Louis Phee.
Guests indulged in the pre-dinner activities at the reception from 6.00-7.00pm, where wine and fruit cocktails were served and an engaging photobooth was set up. Faculty and their teams put up an excellent showcase of their projects as well.
The event continued at the Waterfront Ballroom at 7.00pm, with a welcome address by Professor Miao Chun Yan, Chair, SCSE, followed by a speech by the Guest of Honour, NTU President Professor Ho Teck Hua. The 35th anniversary celebration was then launched by Prof Ho and our distinguished guests. The evening also marked the launch of the “Angela Goh Career Development Professorship”, the first of its kind at SCSE, which further added significance to the commemorative night.
The esteemed guests, staff, students, alumni, industry partners and collaborators had a sumptuous 8-course dinner treat while being entertained by various activities such as performances by NTU DanceSport Academy, NTU Jazz & Blues Club and table games. NTU President had also joined in and added to the jubilation of the audience with his participation in the table games.
The night concluded with lucky draw segments presented by the Associate Chairs of SCSE, A/P Quek Hiok Chai (AC-Students), A/P Sun Aixin (AC-Academic), Prof Cai Wentong (AC-Faculty) and A/P Tang Xueyan (Assistant Chair – Research). A total of 20 prizes such as HP laptop, Apple IPAD Air, LUMOS NANO Projector, Garmin Smartwatch and AMD Monitor were given away, with the first prize won by A/P Qian Kemao.
The end of this evening’s celebration does not mark the end but rather the initiation of something new. As we set forth on a thrilling expedition towards the future, SCSE is committed to maintaining its commitment to delivering exceptional education and state-of-the-art facilities for the students and researchers who have selected our institution.
SCSE expresses gratitude to the entire community—past and present, staff and students—for their valuable contributions over the remarkable 35-year history of the school. The captivating narrative and progress of SCSE will endure.
