Woman Engineering with Power

NTU Woman Engineering with Power
With a passion in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM), President of Mechanical and Aerospace Leadership Development Program (MAE LDP), Shrivastava Samruddhi (middle in photo) believes that every engineering student is uniquely positioned to give back to the community by helping underprivileged children gain access to STEM education.

“Being in a club that has a mission you’re passionate about is a great way to meet like-minded people.

I’m very proud of the work that me and my team have done to “future-proof” the club. It’s not just one event, but a series of actions we take; from basic things such as solidifying our partnerships with various community centres so we stay committed to our mission, to putting in the work to create guides and documentation so that future versions of our flagship events run smoothly.

This requires concerted effort across a competent and passionate team. I’m grateful for the opportunity to contribute to such a unique space.

As an international student, I was stuck in my dorm room during Circuit Breaker and unable to return home to see my family. Despite the challenges of isolation we were all facing, my local friends reached out to check on me and offer help if needed. It was a small but powerful reminder of the strength and resilience of the NTU community, and it made me feel less alone during a difficult time.

Entering a male-dominated field like Engineering can be intimidating but you are not alone. The number of women in Engineering is growing every day, and there are countless initiatives, organisations, and communities out there that are dedicated to supporting and empowering women in the field. At NTU, we have the Society of Women Engineers @ NTU (SWE@NTU) which has many collaborations with our club and others across the College of Engineering. These organisations provide a supportive and inclusive community where you can learn, grow, and thrive as an engineer. We need more women in engineering, and we can’t wait to welcome you to the community.”
