Research Capabilities
A key research focus for FRESH is the development and validation of human-relevant, non-animal models for food safety testing. Our methodologies include:
- in vitro toxicology
- in silico toxicology
- in vitro digestion
FRESH reviews the application of risk assessment methodologies in other industry sectors to learn how they can be adapted to the novel food framework in Singapore. We are particularly interested in:
- Next generation risk assessment (NGRA) frameworks
- Benefit-risk assessment
- Quantitative risk assessment of allergens
FRESH works closely with regulators and the industry to define and apply robust frameworks and tools to help guide novel food companies in preparing the data needed for regulatory approval with applications of new approach methodologies (NAMs).
