CCDS iLab Industry Insights - Software Engineering in Tech

On October 23, 2024, CCDS iLab hosted an engaging Industry Insights event, spotlighting the dynamic world of Software Engineering. Bringing together tech enthusiasts, students, and budding professionals, this session offered a unique chance to gain valuable insights directly from industry experts.

The hour-long event kicked off with a detailed talk on current trends in software engineering, challenges in the industry, and tips on staying competitive in a rapidly evolving tech landscape. Our guest speaker, Mr. Juan Samuel Sugianto, a Backend Software Engineer at TikTok, shared his journey from a Computer Science student at NTU to working at one of the world's leading tech companies.

Alongside in-depth discussions, the session featured an interactive Q&A where participants asked insightful questions about career development, skills required for software engineering, and the real-world application of classroom learning. The conversation was further enriched by Mr. Sugianto’s practical advice on resume building and interview tips for tech roles.
