Associate Professor Wong Wei Chin

Associate Professor Wong received her MBBS from the University of New South Wales, Australia in 1996, followed by membership to the Royal College of Physicians (UK) in 2002. She subsequently underwent advanced specialty training in Geriatric Medicine at Tan Tock Seng Hospital, Singapore. After obtaining her specialist accreditation in Geriatric Medicine in 2005, she was elected as a Fellow of the Academy of Medicine, Singapore in 2006. In 2006, she received the HMDP award from the Ministry of Health to undergo further training at the Centre for Health Care of the Elderly at Dalhousie University, Canada. She obtained the Master of Medical Education from the University of Dundee, United Kingdom in 2020. In 2022, she was elected as a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh.

She is currently a Senior Consultant at the Department of Geriatric Medicine at Tan Tock Seng Hospital. Her areas of clinical interest include falls and balance in older adults, osteoporosis, and frailty. She is also a deputy chairperson of the NHG Domain Specific Review Board.

Since 2002, A/Prof Wong has been actively involved in the education of medical students, medical officers, residents, senior residents, and nurses. She has been involved in the training of medical students from Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore, trainees in the Diploma in Geriatric Medicine in Hospital and Intermediate and Long-Term Care, NHG Geriatric Medicine Senior Residency Programme, NHG Postgraduate Year 1 Programme and the NUS Master of Nursing Programme (Adult Health). She was appointed as the education track lead for the Institute of Geriatrics and Active Ageing from 2018 to 2021.

She is an examiner for the NUS Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine Graduate Diploma in Geriatric Medicine and the Geriatric Medicine Exit Certification Examination. She currently serves as a member of the Joint Committee on Specialist Training (JCST) examination committee for Geriatric Medicine and MOH Pharmacy Residents Selection committee.

She received the NHG Teaching Excellence Special commendation award in 2020 and the NHG Education Leaders award in 2021. In 2022, she also received the Tan Tock Seng Hospital Top 20 teacher award in the Divisions of Medicine and Integrative and Community Care.
