Dr Dorai Raj Appadorai

Assistant Dean, Year 3

Dr Dorai Raj, MBBS, MRCP(UK), FAMS, obtained his medical degree from Manipal University in 2014. He completed his post graduate training with the Royal College of Physicians, UK. Subsequently, he embarked in his residency training in Advanced Internal Medicine in Singapore. He joined Tan Tock Seng Hospital (TTSH) in 2012, and currently holds a position of Senior Consultant at the Department of General Medicine. He was appointed a Core Clinical Faculty Member (CCFM) of the national post-graduate Year1 (PGY1) programme in 2016. Dr Dorai is currently a TTSH Wellbeing Officer and a committee member of the TTSH Office for Protection of Employees (TTSHope).

Dr Dorai is a regular examiner at the Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine summative exams (Year 5 and Year 3). As Assistant Dean (Year 3) and an adjunct Senior Lecturer, he facilitates numerous campus-based and clinical learning activities at the undergraduate level. He is also the SBA Lead for the Year 3 summative exams. He is currently pursuing his Masters in Health Professions Education with Massachusetts General Hospital, Boston. Dr Dorai is an Adjunct Faculty member of the National Healthcare Group (NHG) College and a faculty member for the NHG Simulation Instructor Course.

Dr Dorai’s clinical and educational interests include Acute Internal Medicine and Simulation-based medical education, respectively. He is an avid clinician and educator and has received numerous accolades for his contributions. He has received TTSH’s Antibiotic Guardian Award for years 2016, 2018 and 2019. He has been named TTSH Top Teacher Award in years 2020, 2021 and 2024. He has also received NHG’s Teaching Award in 2013 and 2021. In 2021 he was recognised by the National University of Singapore (NUS) and accorded the Dean’s Award for Teaching Excellence. In 2024, he was conferred LKCMedicine’s Special Recognition Award.
