Professor Kwek, MBBS, MMed(Anaes), FAMS, obtained his medical degrees from the National University of Singapore in 1988 and completed his training in Anaesthesiology in 1995. He joined Tan Tock Seng Hospital in 1995 and was sent on a government scholarship to the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, USA from 1998-99 for subspecialty training in Critical Care Medicine. 

He is currently Assistant Chairman, Medical Board (Special Projects), Senior Consultant of the Department of Anaesthesiology, Intensive Care and Pain Medicine at Tan Tock Seng Hospital, and also Clinical Associate Professor at the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine and Senior Consultant to the Ministry of Health for the National Deceased Donor Programme. 

He is a regular Examiner for the local Master of Medicine (Anaesthesiology) examinations and also External Lecturer and Examiner for the Neuroanaesthesia and Critical Care Program at the University of Padjadjaran, Bandung, Indonesia, and the Hong Kong College of Anaesthesiologists examinations.

Prof Kwek’s clinical interests include neuroanaesthesia, neurocritical care, and general intensive care. He is a passionate and recognised clinical teacher and has been named "Top-10 Teacher in the Division of Surgery" at Tan Tock Seng Hospital for 3 years (2006-7, 2007-8, 2008-9) and "Best Teacher (Division of Surgery)" in Year 2009-10. He was awarded the "Outstanding Citizenship" and "Distinguished Senior Clinician" awards by NHG in 2013 and 2021 respectively and the Public Administration Medal (Silver) for his efforts in our fight against COVID-19.
