Student Teachers

ELL offers a broad range of graduate programmes catering to the needs of educators and professionals in the fields of English Language and Literature. All of our programmes provide students with the opportunity to retool their interdisciplinary knowledge and to deepen their subject theory, while also developing new skills that have direct applications to classroom practice. Our programmes can be completed through both full and part-time routes, ranging from 1 year to 5 years. Our coursework programmes (MA Applied Linguistics and MEd English) provide rigorous training for admission into doctoral programmes , while also allowing students to take specialist electives to deepen their knowledge and passion in specific subject areas, such as Creative Writing, Popular Culture, Language Assessment and Sociolinguistics while our research programmes (MA by Research, Doctor of Philosophy, and Doctor in Education) demand a sustained enquiry into a theoretical or practice-oriented research project. Regardless of the route students take, our graduates complete our programmes with the confidence and skills to enhance their research, professional and pedagogical practices . In recent years our programmes have attracted a wide range of students from both Singapore and overseas, and have proven attractive and relevant to teachers working in a variety of public and private educational sectors.
