Assistant Professor Azilawati Jamaludin speaks at West 1 MOE Schools Cluster meeting at Yuhua Primary School
Asst Prof Azilawati Jamaludin, Assistant Dean, Science of Learning in Education, and Assistant Professor at NIE’s Learning Sciences and Assessment Academic Group (LSA AG), was invited to speak at the West 1 (W1) MOE Schools Cluster meeting hosted at Yuhua Primary School on 22 September 2022. The event was attended by Mrs Rathi Parimalan, W1 Cluster Superintendent, and approximately 40 school Principals and Vice-Principals.
For her segment titled “Neuroscience and Learning in Adult Learners”, Asst Prof Azilawati shared about the concept of neuroplasticity and neurogenesis and its relation to adult learning, with a particular focus on how neuroscience understandings can provide insights into effective Professional Development design for educators.
The session concluded with takeaways from neuroscience research, with the emphasis that the science of learning needs to be accompanied with the art of design to optimally integrate neuroscience findings into efficacious Professional Development for teachers.
