Associate Professor Victor Lim Fei publishes a journal article, speaks at 2 different events, and appears in an interview for a special issue of a journal
Associate Professor Victor Lim Fei from NIE’s English Language and Literature Academic Department (ELL), published a journal article titled “Assessing multiliteracies: a systematic review and a perspective from Singapore” in the Asia Pacific Journal of Education. The paper performs a systematic review of studies from 2013 to 2023 on multiliteracies and assessment in the English language classrooms and identified the themes of the importance of a metalanguage of multiliteracies for assessment, the productivity of multimodal analytical frameworks for assessment of students’ artefacts, and the preoccupation with language and print literacies in multiliteracies assessment. The findings attest to the need for a commonly shared pedagogic metalanguage to assess students’ learning of multiliteracies and the need to move beyond the focus on language and print literacy in assessment

- Invited Keynote Speaker on the topic, “for Does AI (Dis)empower Youths? The case of Generative AI for Digital Multimodal Composing”, at the 3rd Language and Communication International Scientific (LCR) Forum on 16 October 2024, organised by the Language & Communication Research Lab, College of Language & Communication, Smart Village Campus, Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport (AASTMT) in Cairo, Egypt.
- Invited Speaker on the topic, “Multimodality and Multiliteracies”, at the Specialist Connect for English Language and Humanities Senior Specialists, on 14 October 2024, organised by the Curriculum Planning and Development Division, Ministry of Education, Singapore.
Finally, he shared his reflections on Generative AI in education from the perspective of multimodality in an interview for a special issue on Multimodality and Digital Technology: challenges and impacts in times of AI for research and teaching in Linguagem em Foco (Language in Focus) Journal.
