Requirements for

Division of Physics and Applied Physics (PAP) of the School of Physical and Mathematical Science (SPMS) at the Nanyang Technological University (NTU Singapore) is reinforcing its research activities in quantum sciences and technologies by hiring talents through the Nanyang Assistant Professorship (NAP) programme. We are looking for independent and strongly motivated researchers either theoretician or experimentalist with a successful experience in at least one of the following areas: Quantum computing, quantum sensing, quantum communication, quantum software, and quantum algorithm. The attractive startup grant of the NAP programme will allow the shortlisted candidate to develop his/her own research activity in the vibrant ecosystem at SPMS.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Applicants must be early career researchers, holding a PhD or MD or equivalent degree, obtained within the last 10 years.
  • A strong track record of early achievements and the potential to lead an independent research group are required.
  • Selected candidates must be committed to taking up an independent research appointment at NTU NAP Awardees will enjoy a comprehensive set of benefits designed to support and enhance their academic and research at NTU.

  • Each NAP Awardee will receive a start-up research grant (SUG), which will be determined based on the awardee's research track, as outlined below:
    STEM: Up to SGD 1.5 million startup research grant and scholarships for hiring up to 5 PhD students
    SHAPE: Up to SGD 1 million startup research grant and scholarships for hiring up to 2 PhD students
  • A dedicated White Space Fund of up to SGD 250,000, within the budget cap stipulated above.

Requirements:

  1. Bachelor's degree in Tier 1 university,
  2. Good motivation in science, especially in quantum science,
  3. Good English reading and writing.

Positions are open to candidates with an interest in:

  1. Telecom range quantum emitter towards Practical single photon quantum key distribution, including their coupling to cavities.
  2. Quantum sensing with solid state system.
  3. Quantum computation based on solid state system such as defects in diamond.
  4. Spintronics with 2D materials, such as magnetic tunnel junctions.
  5. Twistronics for the 2D TMD materials such as induced superconductivity by twistronics.
  6. Opto-electronics based on 2D material.

You are expected to have

  1. Bachelor's degree in physics or applied physics in Tier 1 university.
  2. PhD degree in physics or related area.
  3. Motivated with experimental science or theory research closely related with experiments.
