1Cat-A SSG Funded Courses - Eligible Singapore Citizens and PRs must attain at least 75% training attendance and passed all associated assessments in order to be eligible to enjoy up to 70% of the course fee. Learners will have to bear the full courses fee upon failure to meet either one of the requirements. 

2Mid-career Enhanced Subsidy (MCES) - Singaporeans aged 40 and above must attain at least 75% training attendance and passed all associated assessments in order to be eligible to enjoy subsidies up to 90% of the course fee. 

3Additional Funding Support (AFS)- Individuals must be Singapore Citizens and meet one of the following eligibility criteria:
a) Long-term unemployed individuals (unemployed for six months or more);or
b) Individuals in need of financial assistance – ComCare Short-to-Medium Term Assistance (SMTA) recipients or Workfare Income Supplement (WIS) recipients; or

Module 1: NTU Transitioning with Digital and Sustainable Skills

Focuses on enhancing personal leadership skills and self-awareness while equipping participants with proficiency in data-driven decision-making through analytics and AI. Additionally, it emphasizes the application of design thinking to develop innovative solutions for real-world challenges, fostering a holistic approach to effective leadership and problem-solving in today’s dynamic environment.

Module 2: Foundations of Sustainable Urban Environments

This module lays the groundwork for understanding sustainable urban development’s trends and challenges through the Singapore Sustainable Blueprint, Green Plan 2030, and Energy Plan 2050. It focuses on critical aspects such as Sustainable Urban and Master Planning, Sectoral Verticals in Urban Development, Sustainable Building Design, energy security, and renewable integration and climate resiliency. This module emphasizes the foundational principles of sustainable planning and development, setting the stage for more advanced urban sustainability strategies.

Module 3: Green and Resilient Urban Environments

This module emphasizes sustainable urban development through advanced green building technologies and energy efficiency strategies, including super low energy buildings, net zero buildings, and carbon capture and sequestration. It also explores sustainability benchmarks with a focus on urban policies and standards. Additionally, the module covers the resilience of urban environments through effective water management, enhancement of urban biodiversity, and promotion of sustainable transportation solutions, equipping participants to craft cities that are environmentally sustainable and adaptable.

Module 4: Social & Economics of Urban Environments

This module explores how urban development intersects with social and economic factors to enhance city life. It addresses the impact of aging populations on health and industry, integrating sustainability into industrial development, and justifying projects on their value to society. It also delves into sustainable food systems through urban farming and circular economy principles. Additionally, it emphasizes regenerating urban spaces with nature-based solutions like cool roofs and heat island reduction, featuring insights from expert speakers on smart and sustainable facilities management.

Module 5: Future Trends & Innovations in Sustainable Urban Environments

This module explores cutting-edge solutions for sustainable urban development. It covers renewable energy sources like green hydrogen and nuclear energy. It also delves into low carbon construction materials and innovations used in major infrastructure projects. Additionally, it explores biologically inspired design in buildings that generate their own energy, and innovative kinetic energy harvesting technologies, preparing participants to implement forward-thinking sustainability strategies in urban planning.

Module 6: Capstone

The capstone project enables learners to tackle real-world urban planning challenges by applying foundational theories to comprehensive case studies. Participants will collaborate to design actionable, sustainable urban development projects, fostering teamwork and innovation.

Terence Tan

Programme Director

Terence has 34 years of experience in regional leadership, sales, services, and technological solutions for the built environment. His expertise spans high-performance and energy-efficient buildings, green buildings, net-zero buildings, smart buildings, and smart cities.

He was an accomplished Director of Integrated Building Solutions, including Digital Solutions, at an MNC. With a deep commitment to customer care, sustainability, and digitalization, he has experience in transforming the built environment. His expertise spans Go-to-Market Strategy, comprehensive Building Systems & Services (including Digital, HVAC, BMS, Fire, Security, and Refrigeration), and Facilities and Energy Management.

Currently, he is serving as an Advisor at Sustain Synergy, Nature Things, Forte ESG (& KoolLogix), Aboitiz Data Innovation, and T3 Environmental. He leverages his expertise to guide sustainable practices across the Built Environment. His roles include shaping strategies that embed sustainability into business models and helping navigate complex sustainability challenges, turning them into opportunities for innovation and impactful growth.

He is a Singapore Certified Energy Manager (SCEM), Certified Data Center Practitioner (CDCP, CDCFOM, and CDCS), Certified Sustainability (ESG) Practitioner (Advanced), and a Master Executive Coach Professional. Additionally, he holds an MSc in Sustainable Building Design (with Distinction), a PhD by Portfolio (with Distinction), and an MBA (Merit), underscoring a strong dedication to excellence and continuous learning.

 

Alvin Ng

Alvin boasts over 25+ years of global leadership in sales and product management, having ascended to senior leadership roles in multiple renowned multinational corporations.

He currently he is the Venture Partner of Civico Ventures (Urban Sustainability & Intelligence focus pre-seed start up fund) and recently holds the position of Chief Operating Officer at Aboitiz Data Innovation, a progressive data science and AI startup dedicated to pioneering research and adopting a human-centric approach. The company is committed to transforming businesses through data and AI innovations.

Previously, Alvin was the Regional Vice President of Digital & Sustainability Solutions for APAC at Johnson Controls. In this role, he successfully spearheaded initiatives that escalated the digital, sustainability, and AI segments from US$5 million to US$50 million within just 2.5 years. At GE, as the General Manager for GE Digital Asia, Alvin was instrumental in the launch and exponential growth of an industrial IoT and software platform, which he developed from the ground up into a robust US$40 million business.

He is leading a groundbreaking partnership with EDB, SkillsFuture, BCA, and top universities to establish a Net Zero Building Innovation Lab, driving Singapore’s leadership in sustainable, AI-powered urban development.

His expertise in digital twin technologies and AI-driven asset optimization is transforming the built environment by integrating real-time data, predictive analytics, and automation to accelerate the transition to smart, net-zero buildings. This first-of-its-kind collaboration unites policy, innovation, and workforce transformation, setting a new benchmark for digital industrial sustainability.

In addition to his corporate roles, Alvin is deeply involved in academic and professional development as an adjunct associate professor at Nanyang Technological University (NTU) and the Sasin School of Management, Thailand.

At NTU’s Nanyang Business School, he imparts knowledge in AI for Business, Digital Transformation, and the Industrial Internet of Things (IoT), while also leading the “Business Consulting” and “Leader as a Coach” programs. He mentors Global Executive MBA students as a senior career fellow. At Sasin, Alvin focuses on the strategic integration of AI into business processes, teaching courses on Digital Transformation and AI to foster innovation and enhance operational efficiency.

Holding a Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical Engineer) from NTU and certified as a Professional Certified Coach (PCC), Alvin is a recognised authority in AI and digital transformation, with numerous publications and keynotes at major industry conferences.
