Introduction

Entrepreneurs need to explore different ways to grow their businesses, such as creating new products, services, markets, customers, and business models. Learners in this course will create growth plans by using their venture's current strengths and developing new ones. This course is especially useful for entrepreneurs who want to take advantage of new opportunities and help their businesses stay competitive. Learners will use the right strategies for a changing market through the different stages of the industry's life cycle.

    Dr. Xia Zhiqiang

    Dr. Xia Zhiqiang currently serves as the Academic Director of the NTU Entrepreneurship Academy (NTUpreneur) and the Director of Graduate & Undergraduate Programmes at NTUpreneur. His expertise spans across innovation and entrepreneurship training, mentoring, business development, and project management in multicultural contexts. His career at NTU started in 2004 as an Assistant Director in two offices: Nanyang Technopreneurship Center and China Strategy Group (President’s Office). In his first role, he co-developed the Chinese track of the Master of Science in Technopreneurship and Innovation (MSc TIP) starting in 2006. In his second role, he was responsible for strategic planning and implementation of several China-related NTU projects. He was instrumental in executing NTU’s Global Immersion Program (GIP), enabling undergraduates to gain extensive overseas study, industrial attachment, and living experience. Prior to his extensive career in education, Dr. Xia worked in the IT and real estate industries, managing projects in ERP, knowledge management, asset valuation, and business M&A.

    He actively participates in professional and social communities. He serves as an Adjunct Professor at the Shenzhen Institute of Advanced Technology, Chinese Academy of Sciences since 2013, a frequent final-round judge for the Singapore Prestige Brand Award since 2015, and a member of the Post Secondary Education Institutions Sub-Committee of ACEsg (Action Community for Entrepreneurship) since 2023. He was the President of the International Council for Small Business (Singapore Chapter) from 2015 to 2017 and the Treasurer & ExCo member of Singapore-China Association for Advancement of Science and Technology (2017-2019). 

    Dr. Xia holds a bachelor’s degree in engineering, an MBA with the Nanyang MBA Scholarship, a master’s degree in Real Estate from NUS, and a Ph.D. (with Dean’s Commendation) in entrepreneurship from the University of Adelaide. He maintains strong connections with entrepreneurs, investors, policymakers, and educators in the entrepreneurship ecosystem in Singapore and internationally. His efforts have helped many entrepreneurs and startups secure venture funding and strategize business growth and international development.
