Introduction

The first objective of the course is to give the participants an appreciation of the challenges faced by supply chains. Secondly, the participants will experience supply chain dynamics, and learn the value of information in reducing supply chain dynamics. Besides lecture, the course also relies on a computer-based team game, and case studies to facilitate the learning.

By the end of this course, participants will be able to:

1. Understand the key issues and challenges in effectively managing supply chains.

2. Experience supply chain dynamics by being part of a Beer supply chain.

3. Appreciate the value of information in reducing dynamics in supply chains.

Dr Rajesh Piplani

Dr Rajesh Piplani

Dr. Rajesh Piplani (Ph.D. Purdue University, 1995) is an associate professor at Nanyang Technological University, Singapore and the Director of M.Sc. program (Supply Chain Engineering. Dr. Piplani's interests are in supply chain design and inventory planning of manufacturing, logistics and pharmaceutical enterprises. His latest project entails investigation of machine learning to shop floor control and supply chain planning.

Dr Piplani has offered customized programs for various companies (PSA, DHL, Singapore Customs, TNT, Phillips, Maxtor), and for all the three branches of Singapore Armed Forces (Army, Navy and Air Force). He has worked on supply chain modeling and analysis projects for Singapore-based companies in the pharmaceutical, automotive, electronics and beverage sectors.
