Introduction

This is a core course for MAIDT programme. Programme evaluation is important for instructional design as it 1) helps determine the merit and worth of an instructional package, and 2) helps identify the strength and area for improvement to assist decision making and programme development.

This course is intended to provide students with an understanding and awareness of the basic philosophical, procedural, and technical aspects of evaluation. The primary goal is to help students achieve a level of basic knowledge and skills in the application of acceptable and efficient models to the evaluation of programs. Students will systematically design an evaluation plan as the final project for the course.

- Graduate Certificate in Instructional Design (E-Learning)
- FlexiMasters in Instructional Design (E-Learning)

- Master of Arts in Instructional Design and Technology

Learners must complete any 3 of the following courses to attain the Graduate Certificate in Instructional Design (E-Learning) (12 AU):

• MID901 Instructional Design Models and Practices
• MID941 Evaluation Models and Methods
• MID917 Designing E-Learning
• MID922 E-Learning Tools for Training (Pre-requisite: Completed MID901)

Upon completion of the fourth course, learners will fulfil the AU requirements to attain the FlexiMasters in Instructional Design (E-Learning) (16 AU).

  1. Explain the rationale of conducting program evaluation
  2. Describe different evaluation models by identifying their strengths and limitations;
  3. Discuss the procedures for planning, conducting and using evaluations;
  4. Design an evaluation plan that is based on the appropriate applications of evaluation models and methods. 
  5. Design instruments for the evaluation

To meet the requirement of SkillsFuture Singapore, assessment(s) will be conducted during every course. The assessment(s) include:

  • Group Presentation and Assignment
  • Individual Assessment
  • Individual Assignment
  • Class Participation
