Introduction
The course aims to deepen students' understanding on the history and journey of Tamil language teaching and learning in Singapore. The course focuses on the history of Tamil language and Literature teaching. The course provides an overview of the evolution and development of Education to deepen students' awareness on Tamil education in Singapore. Ultimately, the course aims to enable students to adopt strategies for 21st century teaching and learning.

- Graduate Certificate in Tamil Language Education
- FlexiMasters in Tamil Language Education
- Master of Education in Tamil Language
Learners must complete any three of the following courses to attain the Graduate Certificate in Tamil Language Education (12 AU):
- MTL901 Tamil Curriculum, Materials including IT: Selection and Evaluation (or MTL901A-C)
- MTL903 Tamil Language in Education (or MTL903A-C)
- MTL907 History of Singapore Tamil Education and Tamil Literature (or MTL907A-C)
- MTL908 An Introduction to Sociolinguistics and Bilingualism for Tamil (or MTL908A-C)
Upon completion of the fourth set of courses, learners will fulfil the AU requirements to attain the FlexiMasters in Tamil Language Education (16 AU).

At the end of the course, participants will be able to:
- Learn about the issues and development of Tamil language teaching and learning
- Study and review the role of Vernacular schools and their impact in Singapore’s Tamil community
- Tamil schools and Umar Pulavar Tamil High Schools: Roles, Future Contributions • Tamil Textbooks and learning resources: comparative national & overseas
- Singapore Tamil Teaching Resources: Role and uses of textbooks (MOE, CPDD, NIE)
- Singapore Tamil Teaching resources: Development of Textbooks and teaching resources (MOE, CPDD, NIE)
To meet the requirement of SkillsFuture Singapore, assessment(s) will be conducted during every course. The assessment(s) include:
- Group Presentations
- Individual Learning Portfolio
- Individual Reflection Paper

Participants are recommended to take the courses in the sequence A, B, and C as the contents of the latter courses build on the foundations of the earlier courses.
