GROWTH - 3D printed concrete tree for NTU Convocation 2019
The Building & Construction team congratulated the 2019 NTU graduates by 3D printing a tree-like structure entitled "GROWTH". The 3D printed concrete tree, which symbolises the growth of education consists of 10 cellular branches fabricated without formwork, and printed to their full height.
The tree was designed using customized software and fabricated with the robotic 3D printing process developed by NTU Singapore, in collaboration with Sembcorp. The process is expected to greatly improve the efficiency of concrete construction while achieving the fabrication of complex components.
