Field & Lab Emergency
Field Emergency
Field work can be dangerous and caution must be taken in ensuring that all risks and hazards have been considered and steps have been taken to minimize risks. Principal Investigators (PI) and Person-in-Charge (PIC) are to ensure that relevant safety documents such as emergency plan (EP) and risk assessments are available for all field programs.
In addition, some of our staff and post-graduate students are trained in wilderness first aid to prepare them for emergency first aid in the field. All field trips are expected to have at least one such person (or at least be trained and has valid certifications in first aid) to ensure emergency first aid is available in the field.
The people currently trained in wilderness first aid are:

Laboratory Emergency
Laboratory users are to familiarise themselves with the locations of the emergency eyewashes and showers, first aid kits, spill kits and fire-fighting equipment in their laboratories. They are expected to have basic knowledge of how to use emergency equipment safely and responsibly.
There are training modules available online for the safe use of fire extinguishers and also other general fire safety information. Please login to NTULearn to take e-modules courses on how to deal with fire emergency safely.
All laboratory users are expected to follow ASE-EOS 10 Golden Rules in order to ensure that general safety is observed in the laboratories.
For all incidents, please contact Alistair Ting at [email protected] or 6794 3545 to discuss the best ways to deal with the incident, including any investigation needed for incident reporting.
