Programme Delivery and Calendar
To cater to the demanding schedules of mid- to senior-level executives, the Executive Master of Science in Sustainability Management is delivered as a part-time programme over twelve months in six academic blocks, each lasting four to eight consecutive days including Saturday and Sunday.

Programme Structure
The programme incorporates stackable learning pathways. All participants begin with the FlexiMasters in Sustainability Business Ecosystems, covering content in Academic Blocks 1, 2 and 3. Upon successful completion, participants receive a FlexiMasters Certificate and will be matriculated into the Graduate Programme to complete the Master of Science degree.
Class Location
Academic Blocks 1, 3 and 6 will be conducted on-campus at Gaia, the largest building in Asia made entirely of sustainable wood and recognised as NTU’s 8th zero-energy building on campus.
Academic Blocks 2, 4 and 5 will be conducted at Lifelong Learning Institute @ Paya Lebar.
Class Hours
Each teaching day is 7.5 hours in duration, and classes are held
at 9:00am – 6:00pm daily (includes a 1-hour lunch break and two 15-minute
refreshment breaks).
Daytime sessions are reserved for classroom interaction, while
some evenings may be used for guest lectures, projects, group work and
networking sessions.

Candidature
The total number of AUs required to graduate from the Executive MSc Programme in Sustainability Management is 30 AUs, which includes Core Courses (21 AUs), Elective Courses (6 AUs), and an Integrated Capstone (3 AUs).
The FlexiMasters Programme is offered as part of the academic load and fulfilment of the requirements for the full MSc degree.
The minimum period of candidature is 1 year, and the maximum period of candidature is 4 years.
Flexible and Stackable Learning Pathways

Applicants to the Executive MSc have the option to complete the Executive MSc programme in a stackable manner via the FlexiMasters* programme.
The FlexiMasters* programme is offered as part of the academic load and fulfilment of the requirements for the Master of Science (MSc) degree.
The course credits earned from the FlexiMasters programme may be accepted as partial fulfilment of the requirements for the full MSc degree, subject to assessment and approval by the University.
Graduates of the FlexiMasters programme will pay the remaining fees for the Executive MSc Programme after deducting the fees for the FlexiMasters.

For Singaporeans and PRs (self-financed or company-sponsored) who are progressing to the Executive MSc Programme from FlexiMasters*, the overall investment in the Executive MSc (inclusive of the fees for FlexiMasters programme) is estimated to be between $27,000 and $46,000.

- Singaporeans and Permanent Residents will receive a S$5,000 subsidy.
- There is no government subsidy for the postgraduate segment of the Executive MSc Programme.

1Candidates with academic qualifications other than the above (e.g., completed the FlexiMasters programme stackable towards the Executive MSc programme within the last 5 years) are encouraged to apply for the programme, subject to at least 10 years of experience and approval by the University.
Credit transfers are by application only and will be assessed and approved by the University, and the minimum Grade Point eligible for transfer of credits is 2.5. Credit transfer is subject to cap as per University Credit Transfer Policy.
2Candidates without an undergraduate degree but who have achieved satisfactory results in the FlexiMasters in Sustainability Business Ecosystems are encouraged to apply for the programme. We accept applications without an undergraduate degree on a case-to-case basis. The application should demonstrate extensive professional and leadership experience, keen interest in sustainability topics, amongst other qualities we look out for in our candidates.
Application Deadlines
There is only one intake each year for the Executive MSc in Sustainability Management programme.
As we employ a continuous admissions system for the annual August intake, the online application form will remain accessible throughout before the Final Closing Date, enabling applicants to submit their applications at their convenience. The earlier you submit your application, the higher your chance in securing limited placement in the programme. It is crucial that your application is fully submitted before the admissions process can begin.
You are required to ensure that you have fully submitted the application processing fee and ALL the required documents listed in the Application Form (e.g. recommendations, transcripts, degree scrolls, etc.). Incomplete submission will not be processed.

Section A: Programme
1. How long is the programme?
The Executive Master of Science (MSc) in Sustainability Management is a part-time programme designed to be completed within 12 months. The programme consists of in-person classroom sessions, spread across six intensive Academic Blocks. Participants who follow the prescribed course schedule can complete the programme within the stipulated timeframe.

2. What is the programme structure?
The programme is structured into six intensive Academic Blocks conducted within a 12-month period. Each Academic Block lasts between four to eight consecutive days, including Saturday and Sunday, with full-day classes from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM.
3. What happens if I need to miss a module or class day?
We understand that professional or personal commitments may arise during the programme. The Executive MSc provides flexibility for participants to defer modules and take them with the next cohort. Since the programme operates on an annual intake basis, the earliest opportunity to retake a module would be in the following year.
If you need to miss a module, we strongly recommend deferring the entire Academic Block and rejoining the next intake to ensure a cohesive learning experience.
4. What is the degree conferred?
Graduates are conferred a Master of Science (MSc) degree by Nanyang Technological University, Singapore.
5. Are there specialisations in the Executive MSc programme?
No, the Executive MSc is a specialised graduate business degree designed to cater to senior executives and experienced professionals. The curriculum is structured for time efficiency, focusing on strategic sustainability management without additional specialisation tracks.
6. Where are the classes conducted?
Classes are primarily held on-campus at Gaia, NTU, the largest sustainable timber building in Asia and Grand Prize winner of the Prix Versailles 2024 for World’s Most Beautiful Campuses.
Where feasible, Academic Blocks 1, 3, and 6 are conducted on-campus at NTU Gaia while Academic Blocks 2, 4, and 5 may be held at Lifelong Learning Institute @ Paya Lebar for logistical convenience.
Final venue details will be communicated to enrolled participants before each Academic Block.
7. Is there hybrid element to this programme?
No, the programme is delivered fully in-person to maintain an immersive and interactive learning experience. However, in the event of an unforeseen global crisis (e.g., pandemic), classes may be temporarily shifted to a hybrid format if necessary.
Section B: Admissions & Application Process
8. Who should take the Executive MSc programme?
The Executive MSc is designed for senior corporate executives and experienced professionals with at least 10 years of professional experience.
- The programme is highly selective, prioritising applicants who are holding strategic responsibilities and have significant leadership experience.
- Two-thirds of the cohort typically comprises Heads of Divisions/Departments (HODs) and senior leaders in their respective organisations.
- Fresh graduates are not eligible for this programme.
9. Is GMAT, GRE, TOEFL or IELTS required for admissions?
No, GMAT or GRE scores are not required. In the Executive MSc, admissions is based on holistic assessment of applicant’s quality professional experience, leadership capabilities, and strategic expertise. We believe these are qualities that will enhance the learning experience of the business leaders in our programme. While TOEFL or IELTS is not mandatory, applicants must be proficient in English as active class participation is expected.
10. I do not have an undergraduate degree. Can I still apply for the Executive MSc programme?
Yes, applications from highly experienced professionals without an undergraduate degree will be considered on a case-by-case basis. Candidates should demonstrate:

- Proven leadership and strategic capabilities
11. Is work experience required for the programme?
Yes, applicants must have at least 10 years of full-time work experience.
- The typical participant has 15 years of experience (ranging from 14 to 25 years).
12. What are the benefits to applying early?
While applications are processed whenever they are received, we encourage candidates to submit their applications early to gain priority consideration as the EMSc programme runs once a year.
Each year, the applicant pool is very competitive, so it is advisable to submit early as we endeavour to keep the class to a reasonable size to ensure a high-quality learning experience.

15. Are subsidies available for the programme?
Yes, Several funding options are available:
- FlexiMasters Subsidy: Singaporeans and PRs transitioning from FlexiMasters may receive subsidies for the FlexiMasters portion of the programme.
- SkillsFuture Credit: Singaporean citizens aged 40 and above (self-sponsored) may use their $4,000 Mid-Career SkillsFuture Credit towards the EMSc tuition fee.
- NTU/NIE Alumni Grant: NTU/NIE alumni (all nationalities) receive a one-time 10% tuition fee discount (before GST) to offset the Executive MSc segment of the tuition fee (for Academic Blocks 4 to 6).
- Singaporean & PR: Eligible applicants may receive an additional SGD 5,000 subsidy towards the Executive MSc segment of the tuition fee (for Academic Blocks 4 to 6).

Adam Switzer is an internationally recognised expert in coastal science. In the field of coastal hazards, Adam pioneered the study of storm and tsunami deposits with studies in Australia, India, Thailand, Vietnam, Philippines and Indonesia. Perrine's research examines how natural infrastructure can contribute to creating a resilient and inclusive cities in Southeast Asia. She focuses on the natural infrastructure in urban and rural environments, with a particular interest in hydrologic services.
