Our goal
Our PhD Programme in Operations Management (OM) focuses on the training and development of research expertise, as well as independent, innovative thinking in the broad area of operations management.
As a student, you will be expected to be actively engaged in research that generates new knowledge about the methods and strategies for improving the processes of goods and service creation. We welcome applications from individuals who wish to pursue an academic career in the field of operations management or related areas.
Our faculty
Our faculty members have a diverse array of research interests in terms of methodologies and applications areas, ranging from inventory and operations management, supply chain management, sustainable operations, humanitarian operations, business analytics, and behavioural operations management.
As a doctoral student, you are expected to work closely with faculty members on their operations management research projects, which should eventually lead to top-journal publications.
Our faculty members use both analytical models and empirical/experimental methodologies. As such, some flexibility will be built into your curriculum design in terms of elective courses, so as to maximize the quality of your dissertation research.
You are also encouraged to pursue interdisciplinary research and develop innovative research methodologies.
Our faculty members have strong backgrounds in operations management, operations research, and management sciences. They are actively involved in research and have a record of quality research publications and editorial positions at top journals.
Their research work has recently appeared in leading international journals, such as Journal of Operations Management, Management Science, Manufacturing and Service Operations management, Operations Research, and Production and Operations Management, and Strategic Management Journal.
