Student Clubs & Interest Groups

ANATA stands for Analytics and Data Science (the origin of the word comes from Japanese language). Our club bridges the gap between scientific inquiry and data-driven insights, fostering a collaborative environment where students and professionals alike can harness the power of data analytics.  Join us in exploring the intersection of data science and the chemical sciences, and be a part of a dynamic group dedicated to transforming raw data into meaningful knowledge.

Zymurgy Guild is an interest group under CCEB which provides students a platform to learn and experiment about the wonders of fermentation and the food products that come along with it. We currently conduct workshops for the students in CCEB such as Kimchi, Beer, Mead, Cider and Kombucha.  Some events we host include an annual Beer Brewing Competition (BBC) where participants compete to produce the best beer they can while following each year's unique theme! We also occasionally host learning journeys to different Breweries and taprooms to learn more about the industry.

As engineers, with the vastness of opportunities ahead of us, we often get lost in the plethora of options. Thus, the BMES comes to the rescue to ease the fright we as young folks face before breaking into the working world.

The society aims to bridge the gap between students and the outside world by increasing exposure and honing skills, ensuring they learn as much as they can during their time as members.

          1. Alumni Sharing: The importance of learning through another person’s trajectory is unparalleled. Thus, BMES hosts alumni sharing events where past NTU bioengineering students can impart knowledge about their career path through their choices and mistakes. The latter is the most important tool a student can learn from as another person’s experience sets a path for our own.

          1. Company Visits: Knowing exactly what you want to do and where your talents will be most appreciated is tough. However, through company visits, students will get a fair idea of how corporate culture in Singapore works. It also aids the student’s network ability, opening doors for internship opportunities and niche learning lessons.

          1. BES Leadership Camps: aiming to make students critical thinkers, delegators and good communicators by teaching them how to be confident in themselves so they can project that onto any task and team they are presented with.

          1. Scientific Meetings: Who doesn't love learning? Scientific symposiums that are not restricted to researchers but also students who love sharing about the subject they enjoy, biomedical engineering, allow a place for perspectives to be exchanged and fruitful discussions that could potentially lead to a revolutionary idea that might help the future of medical technology.

          1. Cross-Collaboration: Nothing is standalone. At BMES, we believe that the best way to make a student ensure their learning is holistic is via interdisciplinary collaboration. By being open to cross-collaborations with companies like HNH Group and SGInnovate, academic institutes like BES, and other clubs such as CCEB-ANATA, CCEB-Makerspace, and NUS-MEDTECH; our aim is to jointly host large-scale events for the benefit of our members gaining skills such as:
          1. Business skills: By learning the importance of understanding strategy, development and the required finances.
          2. Communication skills: By communicating effectively to get your point across to parties who may or may not share the same technical knowledge
          3. Leadership skills: By delegating tasks and handling a team to ensure everything goes smoothly whilst simultaneously using the team to your advantage for ideas, perspectives and possible limitations.
          4. Technical Knowledge: There is always more to learn. The club's possible collaborations can help open students to new fields of technology, science and research altogether ensuring a strong incentive.

          About Us

Calling all curious minds!  Are you fascinated by the potential of everyday materials? Do you dream of uncovering new uses for them? Join the ECOs club, where we're a passionate group of CCEB students with a passion for experimenting and exploring new ideas in a lab setting.

Our club focuses primarily on conducting innovative experiments with oils, which are widely used in various applications. We also thrive on ideas!  Have a cool concept for an experiment with essential oils, household oils, etc.? We want to hear it and try it out!

Our CCA involves proposing and testing different experiments, often involving trial and error. When an experiment shows promise, we organize small workshops (4-5 participants) to share our findings with fellow CCEB members.

CCA sessions are held once a week, alternating between workshops and experimental sessions. For instance, we might hold a candle-making workshop one week and delve into a skin balm experiment the next.

Unleash your inner scientist! Join the ECOs club and experiment, learn, and share your discoveries.

          Why We Call Ourselves ECOs?

Enjoyable: We aim to create a memorable and enjoyable experience for everyone who joins our workshops, providing a safe space for students to relax, unwind, and take home something special.

Creative: We constantly seek to innovate and improve our existing experimentation ideas.

Oil: Our projects primarily involve unrefined and refined oils.

sustainability: We do our best to encourage sustainability as part of our vision. With concerns about deforestation and global warming, we strive to teach ways to repurpose common household oil and promote sustainable practices.
