About the Seminar
This seminar aims to review the transformation of the construction industry in the last few decades towards significant productivity improvement, technological advancement and sustainable development. Special emphasis will be given to the green building movement and modular construction in Singapore, including their pitfalls and achievements, from an urban governance perspective. Various new initiatives and approaches to create a labour-lite and decarbonized future for the industry will also be discussed.
About the Speaker
Dr. John Keung earned a PhD in Town Planning from the University of Wales, Cardiff, UK. He is a globally recognized leader in green building initiatives, having received the Chairman's Award from the World Green Building Council in 2015 and the Green Visionary Award from the Singapore Green Building Council in 2017. He served as the CEO of Singapore's Building and Construction Authority from 2006 to 2017, where he promoted green building practices and increased construction productivity. Since 2017, he has been actively involved in Hong Kong's Modular Integrated Construction (MIC) movement. Dr. Keung also advises various public agencies and private organizations and holds Fellowships with the Singapore Institute of Planners and the Royal Town Planning Institute as a Chartered Town Planner.
